Why Eat Raw Food?

Posted on March 27th, 2009 by  |  5 Comments »

When was the last time you ate something raw? Was it the sushi at your favorite Japanese restaurant? Or the salad you had as an appetizer for lunch?

Eating raw food is not an appealing thought for a lot of people. For the most part, most people just don’t understand the benefits of a raw food diet.

To help you better understand why eating raw food is good for you, here are some disadvantages of cooking food:

  • The food’s life force and nutritional content is greatly depleted and its biochemical structure is altered from its original state. Up to 90 percent of water soluble vitamins (vitamins B and C) and lipid soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) are lost.
  • The water content of food is decreased
  • Toxic substances and cooked “byproducts,” including carcinogenic and mutagenic substances and free radicals are created, especially when frying or grilling.
  • Cooking destroys enzymes (more information on enzymes below).
  • Cooked foods cause a tendency towards obesity through overeating because your cells don’t get enough nutrients, leaving them “always hungry” and “demanding” more food. Cooked food is also less likely to be properly metabolized, which is another factor in excess weight gain.
  • After eating a cooked meal, you will experience “digestive leukocytosis,”a general increase in white blood cells in the blood and a change in the relative proportions of different blood cells.

For Dr. Joseph Mercola, eating raw food is one of the keys to good health. Eating your food in its natural state – whole, live and uncooked – will deliver optimal nutrition to your body because vital elements such as enzymes, oxygen, hormones, phytonutrients (phytochemicals) and bioelectric energy are still intact.

Enzymes are delicate proteins and catalysts that break down and help your body absorb food. They are also responsible for many other day-to-day functions, including maintaining a balanced pH for your body as well as a balanced diet.

The high temperatures and chemical reactions involved in cooking, food processing, food handling and food storage may either completely destroy or deactivate enzymes and other vital nutrients. But the most important reason why you should add more raw food in your diet is due to biophotons, the smallest physical units of light which are stored and used by all biological organisms.

Biophotons contain important bio-information which control complex vital processes in your body. They also have the power to elevate the organism – in this case, your body – to a higher oscillation or order, which is manifested as a feeling of vitality and well-being.

Research shows that every living organism emits biophotons or low-level luminescence (light with a wavelength between 200 and 800 nanometers) and it is believed that the higher the level of light energy a cell emits, the greater its vitality and the potential for the transfer of that energy to the individual which consumes it.

The capacity to store biophotons is a measure of the quality of food; the more light a food is able to store, the more nutritious it becomes. For example, naturally grown fresh vegetables and sun-ripened fruits are rich in light energy.

The DNA inside each of your body’s cells vibrates at a frequency of several billion hertz. The vibration occurs several billion times per second and with each contraction, a single biophoton is produced.

All the biophotons emitted from your body communicate with each other in a highly structured light field that surrounds your body. This light field also regulates the activity of your metabolic enzymes.

Eating more raw foods will provide your body with a generous dose of biophotons and enzymes. These two factors are the reasons why a raw food diet will provide you with numerous health benefits, including:

  • Increased energy and improved skin appearance – Raw food contains more vitamins and minerals that give you more energy and are good for your skin.
  • Better digestion and weight loss – When you increase your intake of raw foods, you will feel more satisfied and full because raw food has the best balance of water, nutrients and fiber, reducing your chances of overeating. Cooked food has been depleted of nutrients, leaving your cells feeling “hungry” and “demanding” more food.
  • Reduced risk of illnesses like heart disease, diabetes and cancer – More fruits and vegetables mean more phytochemicals to fight free radicals.
  • Helps you avoid trans fats and saturated fats

In a country dubbed as the “fast food nation” and where people buy 90 percent of their food processed, it’s not a mystery why Americans are suffering from chronic and degenerative diseases.

Eating raw foods like organic milk, raw eggs and raw meat can have a profound impact to your health. It is not a diet fad because early humans did not cook their food and yet, survived and thrived.

You don’t have to do something radical, like be a vegetarian or a vegan, in order to add more raw food into your diet. Listen to your body so you can figure out the right balance of raw and cooked foods which will suit your unique Nutritional Type.

With the eating of raw meat, are we not supposed to be worried about parasites.
It was to my belief that when eating meat especially pork it was best to eat it well done. If there is a trick to eating your meat medium rare or rare I think that would be great. could eating your meat in this form be beneficial for both claims?
